Repairs to a Wardrobe Door

This door had a very heavy mirror attached to the back of it. In trying to relocate it the door swung open and over balanced and shattered. Accidents happen and most are able to be repaired.

The pieces were assessed and a plan of attack as to how to get it all back together. Parts of the door were separated using a heat gun to release the old glue. The joints were cleaned out, then re-glued and clamped together. When parts are taken apart they are tagged so they can go back together in the correct place and order.
The Chair

This chair arrived in the workshop in a box ...! It needed some work

The chair is a beautiful cedar chair that had an unfortunate incident and needed to be put back together so that it was structurally sound, retained it integrity by using traditional techniques and was complete once again. It also had broken tenons in many joints with others a little loose due to time and use.

First was to establish where all the parts fitted together (being good at puzzles, helped) as well as was there anything missing. I had to work out how best to maintain its structural integrity as a chair to be used as well as its integrity as an antique. Some broken sections required splines to be glued in and others a new tenons as well as a new section carved to look like the original.
The chair was cleaned and polished and returned to the owners as good as new and ready to be used.
